(It is a Lotus Notes application hosted on a series of Domino servers and available to staff members via Netscape browsers through our global wide-area network.) They identified 3 factors that contributed most to success in KM: ensuring vision and alignment, managing four domains (content, culture, process, and infrastructure) and creating an effective plan. Community Intelligence Labs This organization is a unique resource offering consulting, a few process tools, they build interaction centers and a terrific library of resources they call the Knowledge Garden. Internships (devote 8 hrs/week) to share ideas are offered on various topics to continue their theme of sharing information. They did have public discussion forums that closed.

KPMG KMWorld is their intranet. UK group is integrating external and internal information (recent contract with FT) third-party information about clients, market sectors and competitors. Over 100 content managers are responsible for developing and maintaining intranet presences. Their extranet

PriceWaterhouseCoopers Knowledge Curve is their intranet. As of 1/98 investigating user-profiling option which will let consultants pick and choose information plus powerful searching. Cyberlib, an electronic library housed on the intranet. Fed by information suppliers that the firm holds in high regard. Researchers also add links to web sites they believe are valuable. Real-time communication via the intranet during instruction with experts using chat applications, possible addition of videoconferencing with the addition of more bandwidth to their network. Bridge is a tool that offers PWC client lists, world directory and news. Extranet is called KnowledgeDirect and is a terrific site showing their leadership in the KM industry including sections on asset management, etc.

Global Best Practices group maintains information and creates content for KnowledgeSpace (see below). Acquired by PWC in 2002.

Ernst & Young - Ernie is a online consulting program which permits questions by computer and responses within 24 hours from an expert. Knowledge providers sort through the requests and route them through the intranet to the appropriate expert. Provides access to: Unlimited access to PAQ database (previously asked questions), Trend-watch, a database providing an overview of topical trends in various emerging growth industries, Mediawatch, which provides articles from seven trade magazines

PriceWaterhouseCoopers - Tax News Network Extranet application for current awareness purposes in each area of tax and permits clients to interact with consultants and search for tax information. 30 day free trial is available.
