Buckman Labs Long recognized as one of the leaders if not the leading company in innovation of knowledge management techniques this international R&D firm now provides a site called Knowledge Nurture for sharing their experiences, resources and in house KM leaders insight with the public.   Its well worth the visit.  Buckman's K'Netrix system is said to provide immediate means of posing a question globally to members of the firm through "open spaces", and leveraging quick turn around responses.  Their distance learning program is also highly acclaimed.

BP: The project team started by developing a "stable set of tools," involving PCs with video conferencing facilities and "whiteboards" on which people could sketch and write; access to both the Internet and a dedicated BP intranet; and Lotus Notes communications software. They believe a key to their success is that coaches by department line or work group are involved and its a visual system. The system puts names and faces on to the know-how available in a series of global "communities of practice," using highly pictorial web pages as well as video conferencing. [Source]
