KM SPECIFIC

eKnowledgeCenter Is publishing a model of KM, active ListServ and also has an Institute with certification programs in several areas. The Institute offers Masters Degrees in Innovation Management, Knowledge Management, Innovation Environment Engineering, and Knowledge Environment Engineering. A Ph.D. program is planned for 2002. For the Masters Degree program, courses will be offered online with an optional residency program. The Ph.D. program will require a residency program.

Knowledge Management Professional Society (KMPro). KMPro is the largest KM professional society with nearly 4,000 members in 79 countries. KMPro is a membership-driven, non-profit association, promoting KM worldwide and it also operates the KM Credentialing Committee to establish KM certification standards. Offers certification training, online collaborative tools (discussion groups, blogs, chat), KM event calendar, KM links, career center, newsletter and professional journal.

RELATED ORGANIZATIONS

American Productivity and Quality Center (APQC) A world-renowned resource for process and performance improvement for organizations of all sizes across all industries. APQC is the leader in knowledge management (KM), helping launch KM as a key business practice in 1996. Based on our KM research, APQC created the Roadmap to Knowledge Management Results: Stages of Knowledge Management Implementation(TM) http://www.apqc.org/best/km/stagesofkm.htm. Whether you are just beginning to face the challenges and opportunities of designing and implementing a KM initiative or are well under way, APQC can help. American Society for Training & Development (ASTD) A specific page for knowledge management exists at this site as well. 

American Association for Artificial Intelligence (AAAI)

Special Libraries Association (SLA) A knowledge management bibliography is available here with some articles linked to full text.  There are also seminars on KM offered by SLA. Search the index of the site for knowledge management for additional materials.

CORPORATE LABS AND/OR RESEARCH CENTERS

Fuji Xerox Palo Alto Lab   Sample projects include Communication and Collaboration and Integrated media. Publications link provides abstracts and some full text publications in pdf on topics like: the rise of personal web pages at work or People Presence or Room Activity Supporting Peripheral Awareness over Distance.

Institute for Knowledge Management (IKM) Lotus and IBM co-sponsored research consortium.  Together with acadmic institutions and corporate members will conduct applied research on the creation and deployment of successful Knowledge Management solutions.  The IKM's initial corporate membership includes such companies as General Motors, Xerox, Buckman Laboratories and The World Bank. Academic institutions with which the IKM shares its research include Boston University, Stanford University, The Wharton School, The Brookings Institute, University of Texas and Theseus in France.
